--------------------------------------------------------------------- The Evening Bridge - November 29, 2005 --------------------------------------------------------------------- TOP STORY - Kyle McSlarrow of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association said today that any mandatory a la carte regime would be "potentially very troublesome for our goal of universal deployment of broadband services." He added that a la carte would hurt consumers "by increasing prices, decreasing choice and reducing diversity in programming and it would do so in a way that violates the First Amendment." McSlarrow's comments came after Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin raised the idea of pay-TV services offering programming choice to consumers.
