There are indeed examples, this is undeniable. In this specific case, however, the OOo developers spent a significant amount of time to fix preliminary issues, leading to 20,000 lines of code that have been recently committed to OOo (and thus have been, or will be soon, integrated into LibreOffice too), so in this specific case the OOo developers haven't ignored the problem, they just started solving (huge) subproblems.
