Multiple ways to get the messages is a good idea in principle, But, you
lose the immediacy of the responses when something big happens.

Most email programs allow you to create a sub directory from the inbox to
collect emails from a group. You don't lose the emails with a digest and I
also believe that people tend to quit reading digests after awhile. A sub
directory keeps your inbox clean and you can better follow the progress of
Open Office.
