I agree completely. What follows is mine alone, and Comrade Meeropol is absolved from any responsibility for it. I'd like to see Howie get his five percent because it will create momentum toward 2024 and, one hopes, more of the left conciliation and consolidation we've seen in his current campaign. This won't only impact elections, I believe, but could lead to a true mass party distinct in kind as well as program from the illusory D and R antiparties we are stuck with at present. If we get both Howie's five percent and a Trump defeat, that would IMO be a good outcome. My fear is that the Demicraps will "pivot" to the right, disregarding the clear sentiments of the biggest voter segment they need to win over--i.e., the much despised "left," including many who are disaffected from the political system tout court and won't vote unless it sings to them The D's hysterical antileft program is NOT really "what America wants" and the accommodationist strategy of eg having the ultra-right Kasich at the so-called convention is a very ominous sign that they are heading straight for the old rabbit hole-- "Why, what America needs is a Rainbow of Entrepreneurs to promote Free Enterprise and Grow Jobs under the shield of the World's Strongest Defense and Responsible Policing."
