Despite the stupidity of the majority of the self-professed anarchists--with their exhibitionistic fringe of "direct action" arsonists and plate glass haters--who, together with assorted sectarians, appear to constitute the greater part of the activist, non-BLM "far left" in the US at the moment (or do they?), it seems pretty clear from the virtual certainty of a Biden debacle and the clarity of the Trump "roadmap"--together with the fathomless "gotta-be-me" consumerist infantilism of the majority of Americans alas--that some form of clandestine organization, including some degree of armed sub-organization(s) may be necessary, behind the overt stuff, to resist the coming tide of post-Trump triumphal rightism. Of course, the "legitimate" stuff also would persist and be organized--and would IMO more important (BTW).
The theoretical and strategic implications of this possibility seem immense--one might say unprecedented--in scope. And yet we are speaking of something that will certainly be deemed illegal and treasonous, and which perhaps cannot be discussed on social media. Has anyone laid a framework even for evaluating this, still less creating the necessary resistance organization in the scant two years that Biden may have left before his enemies on the right learn their lesson and return in triumph? Or should this be left to the invisible hand of the dialectic, which allows philosophers to surpass the even the deepest discoveries of science merely by thinking, and without shifting from their fart-infested armchairs? I'm not sure whether "fascism" is the appropriate bogey here. Given the precarity of the environmental situation and the stranglehold of capitalism on the global economy, something different from fascism and far worse might be in the offing. The United States, after all, has zero prospect of achieving a thousand-year Reich or a new empire greater than that of Rome. The US is sinking and failing. This no-deal exit from global dominance, unbuffered and left in the hands of the one percent, is itself the worst thing that can happen to most of the people that live here.
