In this article, I will attempt to answer these questions and address
arguments against fundamental rights from both radical feminists and
conservatives. I will draw upon my own experience of transitioning from
male to female as a teenager in the early 2000s, as well as the
experience of friends who have transitioned more recently. In doing so,
I hope to convince the reader that despite Rowling’s alarmist framing,
gender clinics have more often than not been a paternalistic obstruction
to individuals of trans experience.
