Frederick you might be mixing up memories of several books. There is a
thick (now old) book collecting all the "Letters to Americans, 1848 - 1895"
by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels published by International Publishers
(New World Books) in 1953.

There is this more recent book edited by Robin Blackburn, published by
Verso in 2011 -
https://www.amazon.com/Unfinished-Revolution-Karl-Abraham-Lincoln/dp/1844677222/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=Marx+Abraham+Lincoln&qid=1609687587&s=books&sr=1-2

I read the Blackburn/Verso book a few years ago but then gave it away so i
went to Amazon now to get the details. You can see the table of contents
via Amazon. If you already know that there was some sort of letter writing
between Marx and Lincoln, the cover of this book might give the impression
of a substantial correspondence.

Both of these books reproduce the *one* "letter" to Lincoln which Marx
signed. It is not a personal letter but a formal "Address of the
International Workingmen's Association to Abraham Lincoln" signed by Marx
and the other members of the "General Council" leadership of this 'First'
International. The Address is laudatory of Lincoln personally, ending with
this paragraph:

"The workingmen of Europe feel sure that as the American War of
Independence initiated a new era of ascendancy for the middle class, so the
American anti-slavery War will do for the working classes. They consider
it an earnest of the epoch to come, that it fell to the lot of Abraham
Lincoln, the single-minded son of the working class, to lead his country
through the matchless struggle for the rescue of an enchained race and the
reconstruction of a social world."

The IWA Address was sent to Lincoln via the U.S. Ambassador in London
(Charles Francis Adams) and then also published in England. As i recall,
the Blackburn/Verso book has Lincoln's note back to Ambassador Adams
instructing him to pass on Lincoln's thanks to the IWA.

I think that's the extent of the 'correspondence' between Marx and
Lincoln. If Mark Lause responds to this thread, rely on his information.
