The really "interesting" question for us is whether the corporate wing of the Republican Party is class conscious enough to really FREEZE OUT the Trumpies? Do they have the coherence to really say that the Hawley's, Cruz's, -=-- more immediately, the members of the House who voted against impeachment will get NO MORE MONEY from the "fat cats"? --- Or is there enough of a split that the corporate Republicans will not be able to DOMINATE the Trumpie Republicans.
It appears at this point that the Trumpie Republicans have the "mass" of voters --- especially Republican primary voters --- If the corporate wing of the Republican Party cannot starve the Trumpies for funds, will they be disciplined enough to support candidates espousing "traditional Repubican values" (whatever they are --- I think they're mostly propaganda, not "real" values) as third party "spoiler" candidates running to deny Trumpie Republicans rel-election EVEN IF that means the Democrats will end up with larger majorities in the national government and even take over some state governments. That's a tall order because these "corporate Republicans" and their candidates will almost certainly lose and the result will be Democratic majorities --- But if they are truly serious, they will have to suck it up and do it until the Trump party goes the way of the Whigs (in the last gasp of the Whig Party in 1852 they were DESTROYED --- it took 8 years for the Repubican Party to mount a successful national campaign). The only (not very good) analogy I can think of was the refusal of anti-war Democrats to support Hubert Humprey in 1968 --- and even then because the AFL-CIO was a lot stronger then that it became later, he almost won! That ended up forcing the Dems to nominate a truly anti-war candidate in 1972 --- who of course got crushed ....
