I quickly learned it is not wise to bring up the PSL here, but one of our basic
principles, in the PSL ,is it is not possible to be a socialist within the
confines of a bourgeois, capitalist party. I am not in the DSA, but I could
never join an organization where any part of the membership supports
reformation of the existing capitalist/imperialist system ,by working within
one of the political parties that helped form this same system. This is why
many of us on the "hard" left, reject not only the DSA, but the CPUSA and
groups like Socialist Alternative as well. Building movements in the long term
is more important than winning elections in the short term.

New Deal, or Great Society liberalism is not socialism, no matter how hard the
right (And this includes liberals and so-called "centrists", ) want to present
it as such. Socialists are revolutioaries, not reformists.

>From what I understand, the topic of working within the Democratic Party, as
>well as that of reform vs revolution is one of much debate within the ranks of
>the DSA. It is an issue the DSA needs to resolve once and for all. Are they
>going to be a real force for change in this country, or merely a "junior
>partner" to the Democratic Party?

AOC's positions on war and imperialism, which should be no brainers for any
socialist, are,as this article points out, antithetical to socialism, and are
little different from Bernie's. It was because of Bernie's record on war and
imperialism, that I could never support Bernie.
