What is it to be "within" the Democratic Party? Not to get all Fancy Dan here,
but there's a phenomenology of parties--not all exist in the same way or have
the same processes.  The DP apparently includes lots and lots of formally
separate committees for this and that and other organizations and
sub-organizations that have a life of their own and somehow coordinate.

For example, in Washington, DC, it appears that many of the varying protest
organizations behind the local BLM demos and their anti-inequality white
penumbra are able to be controlled to some extent by the DP, which apparently
can tell them (or reach a consensus on) when to demonstrate and when not.  How
does that work?  What's the structure here? Is going to a meeting organized by
one of these orgs the same thing as working for a candidate on the DP party
line?

For that matter could some of the peripheral orgs or suborgs be infiltrated and
"subverted"?

It seems that the DP is actually monolithic with regard to the class interests
it serves. But its survival as an institution appears to rely at least to some
extent on the fact that it isn't organizationally monolithic in the same way in
which the Communist Party of the Soviet Union was monolithic.
