agree with Dennis completely --- the only "good" news is that TRUMP''s
success has FORCED the Dems to abandon neoliberalism --- If it hadn't been
for Manchin, the entire Build Back Better Bill might have passed with is
basically Bernie's domestic program ...

The Democratic Party establishment having experienced a "near death"
experience during Trump's first two years have been willing to
"accommodate" (somewhat, I'm not going whole hog here) the progressive wing
of the Democratic Party ---

If Harris wins, it will be VERY INTERESTING to see the content of her
economic program ---

Obviously, the campaign is somewhat ridiculous (the flag, patriotism,
militarism --- mixed with acceptance of the multi-cultural, multi-racial
nature of the US melting pot --- actually best to call it a fruit salad!
--- the good and the bad all mixed together) but the PRO act and the John
Lewis voting rights act -- and if the DEMS get the SEnate, no more
filibuster -- all of these are positive (admittedly baby) steps.

The last time the American left "scared" the politicians was with the
POPULIST PARTY before 1896 --- (before Southern Populists when all in for
Jim Crow) --- WELL - maybe Gene Debs' Socialist Party before WW I as well
---- and the "movement" did scare the ruling class in the 1960s which gave
us the Powelll Memo etc.) ---

who knows if there will be upsurges in the near future or not --- as
climate reality sets in, the tendency towards authoritarianism might take
hold completely --- but maybe there will be some serious
democratic upsurges --- we can only hope.
