Thanks for sharing this speech --- exhortations to "work together" are par for the course from international civil servants and "experts" ---- I apologize for cynicism but I see much of the speech (aside from the very valuable historical re-iterations) as wishful thinking.
The powerful will continue to try and assert (or protect) their power and advantages and the weaker will be harmed ---- obviously the most difficult task of all is the "pricing" of carbon and if accurately priced (a tall order in itself) actually enforcing that "price" === I am more old fashioned -- I think there should be command and control and given the seriousness of the emergency, a move towards virtually total bans on carbon based energy systems --- but the fossil fuel legacy businesses are too powerful for that --- they have to be BRIBED to shift --- I wonder if ANY decision makers inside and outside the incoming Trump ADminsitration will be dissuaded from their worst instincts --- thanks again --- that speech is worth more than one read On Tue, Nov 26, 2024 at 12:11 AM sartesian via groups.io <sartesian= [email protected]> wrote: > Apparently David did not bother to read the remarks of Dr. Ngozi > Okonjo-Iweala, WTO Director-General, so I'll copy and paste them here. > > > -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
