John's post on his blog 1) talks about the "populist base" of the MAGA crowd without dealing with how many of them are workers, and what is a class appeal to them?
After dissecting at length the contradictions among Trump supporters, and concluding from them that Trump will be a disaster at governing for the capitalist class, John jumps to saying 2) the capitalist class "will find a need to overturn its so-called democratic method of rule and turn to a one person dictatorship or even worse" – as though the capitalists do not have less drastic ways to solve a Trump problem. (Nor is it clear yet whether any of the capitalist factions will have a huge problem with the Trump presidency.) This becomes the diving board to jump to John's conclusion: we must "encourage any tendencies for any sector of the US working class to start to develop its own independent movement, a movement that would inevitably lead towards building its own independent political party and towards socialism." After points 1) and 2), this is about as helpful as a daubing a gangrenous leg with a napkin. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
