A good discussion to continue informally over coffee or a beer rather than on the list - especially ,as you say, in light of the more urgent issues facing us today. I don’t share your doubts about whether the Popular Front was Stalin's policy - he was the most powerful and influential figure in the Comintern, after all - and I remain struck by how much your and Bland’s criticisms of the application of that policy in Spain and elsewhere echo those I heard in the Trotskyist movement. But we can leave it at that for now.
