Simon Rodriguez talks of "the decision not to resist US pressure but to accept
US control of Venezuelan oil sales."

US control of oil sales was imposed and continues to be enforced by a naval
blockade. In December and January, nine oil tankers were seized by US forces.
The US stole the oil and kept the money from oil sales.

The use of military force (naval blockade, bombing, kidnapping the president)
represents a dramatic escalation of the long term US campaign against Venezuela
(sanctions etc). This campaign must be condemned.

How does Simon propose to "resist" this form of "US pressure"? Should
Venezuela use military measures to try to break the blockade? This is unlikely
to be successful, and the US would respond with further military attacks on
Venezuela, on a much larger scale.

Alternatively, should Venezuela cease exporting oil until such time as the
naval blockade ends? This would mean the loss of revenue to fund social
programs.

Whatever choice the Venezuelan government makes, the task of socialists in the
US and its allies such as Australia is to campaign against the blockade.
