Thanks, Marv and Donal -- One "quibble" -- I think it's MUCH WORSE
today and I think I know why --- In 1948, the possibility of a left-wing
opposition to the Cold War and anti-communism of the Truman Administration
was dashed by the poor showing oif the Henry Wallace Progressive Party
campaign -- then after Taft-Harley was passed, the union leadership
actually WELCOMED the purging of communists --- FINALLY, rearmament, the
Berlin air-lift and the Korean war occurred with virtually NO opposition
--- Thus, by the time my parents were killed, the establishment had beaten
back any threat from the left --- meaning out and out fascism was NOT
NECESSARY ---

Today, Trumpism has MUCH MORE serious opposition and therefore the attempt
to do without even the trappings of democratic forms becomes necessary for
the Trumpist coalition of -- 1) Out and out racists who never accepted the
Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts of 1964 and 65 --2)_ The Christian
Natioinalists who never accepted even the partial liberation of women, 3)
The billionaires who don't just want their money --- they want to be
praised and honored and given more power --- 4). UNFORTUNATELY, the failure
of neoliberalism to deliver the goods and the failure of Obama and Biden to
reverse the trends of neo-liberalism got too many of the working class to
"TRYI" Trumpism -- these four are the legs of the incipient fascist stool
that promises much worse than what happened in the so-called McCarthy
period. My parents claimed to have been the first victiims of American
Fascism (I don't agree with the word first --- think of all the black
Americans killed by lynching between the 1890s and Emmkett Till in thie Jim
Crow South) --- they were fortiunately wrong --

BUT NOW _-- we've all got a much tougher fight on our hands ---

Thanks for bringing the article to the attention of the group.
