Khrushchev was at the time (1956) an infighter at the highest level
vying for supremacy in the USSR. It would be naive in the extreme to
take his speech as an accurate exposition. A historian examined the
charges against Stalin in that speech and found evidence charge by
charge that they are false.
That historian is a medieval literature academic who, neglecting his
academic discipline, longs not for Stalin himself but for the idol he
made out of Stalin. It is no longer about Stalinism. Orthodox pro-USSR
Stalinist parties worldwide honour Khrushchev's 1956 exposition. A
terminology update is therefore necessary. This intellectual trend, as
distinct from Maoism, which also rejects Khrushchev's exposition,
should be called Furrism rather than Stalinism.
But if so, given that Furrism represents nothing but an intellectual
anachronism and lacks any social base or political program, it could
hardly stand as a political term along with Stalinism and Maoism.
