Yes, the Soviet Union actually "raced" the United States to see which would recognize Israel first after the UN adopted the resolution creating (remember) TWO STATES.
And probably one can find arguments about the general "national question" which justifies the creation of a state in Palestine called ISRAEL --- however with 20-20 hindsight (and buttressed by argument by the architects of Israeli independence, particularly Ben Gurion) there is no way in any version of Marxist theory to justify the ethnic cleansing of the "Israel" part of Palestine of a high percentage of its Arab population --- and there is definitely nothing to justify occupations after the Six Day War --- I would be very surprised if any Marxist supports Israeli policy of ethnic cleansing -- (but how knows....)
