I agree with John Reiman about DSA ignoring the real need to be engaged in
creating a United Front. But I see in Los Angeles DSA the same attitude of
leading figures I have approached about needing to prepare beyond elections
to respond to Trump, should he decide to ignore elections and install
Martial Law.

Every indication, Trump seems more interested in that. As around January 3
when the then U. S. Congress is to assemble in the Capitol building, if
Trump decides to disband (or worse) the Congress to install direct
authoritarian rule -, seems why he has Hegseth as DOD leader, whom will
obey him. As many of these Christian faith mindset, believing Trump will
make the USA a religious state.

The USA left seems not wanting to deal with reality of a fascist threat and
to instead hide their brains and remain in comforts in their surroundings.
I believe DSA in many places are just a place for socializing and finding
companions whom have similar thinking, but not interested in actually
serious struggle. More accommodating to the politicians and the labor union
bureaucrats than real creating an alternative socialist power to organize
laborers to eventually take real power. The Los Angeles DSA is not even
mobilizing for the DSA candidate for mayor which polls show is leading
against the current mayor. Seems many of the LA DSA leaders are willing to
keep the current mayor whom clearly care about the wealthy for her own
financial benefit and not a better city offering even basic services and
failure to provide needed hospital beds for substance abuse users and
mentally ill that are in every neighborhood reflecting acceptance with many
dying from exposure to wathr or having overdoses.

A clear example of a declining empire when such conditions are in many
parts of the USA and wealthy interests are all that are seriously addressed
- to serve them and not the vast populace. Seems this disconnection with
reality - seems shared in various expressions, as the politicians,
administrators, labor bureaucrats and including the left political current
groups - more influenced by clicking keypads than actually offering a
needed alternative - to oppose capitalist rulers, than just observing what
they are doing to us.
