Hey.
I have a really weird problem here.. First of all my setup:
1. 486DX/33 with a Creatix 16 ISDN card and a Ethernet card. Kernel
2.0.35 (RH 5.1)
2. Pentium/133 connected to the 486 via ethernet. Kernel
2.2.6 (Debian 2.1 all the tools upgraded for 2.2.X usage such as
netbase, sysutils, netstd)
The 486 connects to my ISP via ISDN and does masquerading for my
pentium. No problems at all.
Now to the weird part. I have problems only with the News and the WWW
server of my ISP. With kernel 2.2.6
installed on the Pentium I get a very poor transfer rate only to the
News and WWW servers of my ISP (1.0k/sec). To
the rest of the world I get a good/normal transfer rate of 6.5k/sec.
This is not a problem of the News/WWW servers of my ISP BECAUSE: As long
as I had 2.0.36 installed on my
pentium the transfer rates were good to those servers also. I removed
2.2.6 from my pentium and installed 2.0.36
again, and everything worked fine with the News and WWW servers again.
The kernel on the 486 remained 2.0.35 all the time.
Does somebody have the slightest idea of what could be wrong? Why do
only the transfer rates to my ISPs News
and WWW servers suck under 2.2.X on the masq client?? I can't see any
logic in this behavior..
Are there any known problems with MASQ in 2.0.35 (My MRU and MTU values
for the ISDN connection are set equal to 1500)
