These protocols embed IP and port information in the data stream. That
is, instead of a host replying to the source address and port in the
packet *header*, the protocol actually sends connect information in the
*data* portion of the packet, where the masq system won't find it.
These modules actually monitor the data stream of the connections they
are trained to look for, and when they find such IP information, they
mangle it so that the masqueraded connection will work properly.

Most of them can be simply "modprobe'd" in order to work. Some modules
take a "ports=" argument, if you are trying to run protocols on
non-default ports (such as ftp on ports other than 21, or IRC on ports
other than 6667).
