It can also be caused by a tcp bug in the early 2.2.x kernels.

2.2.5-22 is the latest kernel provided by RH for 6.0. Have you kept up with
the security updates for 6.0? See the errata page at
http://www.redhat.com/support/errata/rh60-errata-general.html for full info.

I'd recommend going ahead and grabbing kernel 2.2.14. I would check 2.2.14,
see which packages need to be upgraded (not many), and then either build a
new copy from the kernel.org source tarballs or grab the kernel from the
rawhide distro. ftp://rawhide.redhat.com/rawhide/
Do NOT grab any other compiled packages from that distribution, the
libraries used to compile them have changed and they will mess up your
system. It is usually safe to grab the source rpms from rawhide and
recompile them however (with the exception of glibc which requires special
handling).
