Hi --
Most of the documentation (FAQ, HOWTO) seems to be about
IP-Masqing using a gateway host connected to an ISP with a modem
(PPP/SLIP). Is anyone out there using an ethernet connection via DSL?
Specifically, static-IP DSL? I am about to build a little 2-machine
IP-Masq network (other machine hasn't arrived in the mail yet), but the
docs seem to say that I would have to set the IP address of my gateway to
192.108.1.1 (using RedHat 5). My IP address can't be changed, however,
because then my net connection won't work. So, I'm assuming that I should
just set the other machine (call it BoxB) to 192.108.1.2, and leave my
gateway (=BoxA) as 208.158.249.24 (the address assigned to my by my ISP)?
Will this work?
Also, I imagine I will need to buy some kind of hub to plug both
machines into. Will any old hub do? Any recommendations as far as models
(think c-h-e-a-p)? Thanks for your help.
