The setup below is much better all around. Firtly, you don't have your private fake ips visible to the outside world where they shouldn't be. Secondly, you can secure the internal machines from external access (although this may not be of any real importance to you). Thirdly, you won't have collision problems from all your fake ip machines sending data to your linux machine which then immediately spew it out on the same network after masq'ing it.
