Ok...
I have the sun and the i86 desktop accessing the laptop... everything
works fine accept the alpha. So I am guessing that I have the laptop
setup correctly and the i86 box... I have added static routes to
everything on the network including the alpha... only the alpha can't get
to the laptop.

Yes you interpreted my diagram correctly.
Unfortunatly my alpha is my print server and its parallel port is in use.

here is my routing setup...
192.168.2.0 192.168.1.5 255.255.255.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0
147.129.128.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.224.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
192.168.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
0.0.0.0 147.129.128.1 0.0.0.0 UG -308 0 0 eth1

A note that I also tried it with 192.168.0.0 being 192.168.1.0 witha
mask of 255.255.255.0

        Thanks
