Gautam,

I've figured out what the problem was.


Since the only things I put in my ~/.bash_profile are login-related
settings, everything is else is read saved in ~/.bashrc.  However, the
source line in .bash_profile was   "source .bashrc" instead of
"source ~/.bashrc"
