Thanks, your suggestions work, although I am not going to resort often to them: once the url is properly selected thanks to cutChars, it is faster for me to simply paste the url in the browser than to ctrl-click again and select in a menu.
I agree that regex+double click open browser would be a killing feature. I do not know enough about regex to work seriously on a patch though, so I will simply wait for this very useful feature to come.
