Thanks for responding.  I do have an update from yesterday.

AND NOW
>   ./configure                                 -> it works!!

I was using the instructions in the INSTALL file.
        ./configure --enable-everything --disable-debug

I am surprised more people do not have this issue.
FOR CONTEXT and FUTURE readers:  this is seen when operating through VNC to 
SUSE OS.  
So it may be impacting only a slice of users.

This is really really strange. I can't for the life of me guess what option 
affects with pasting. But if you figure it out let me know.

I've had zero time to devote to mrxvt recently; but use it 24/7.
Thankfully it has no bugs that affect me (except for lacking utf8
support...)
