I will say that while I think FloatCanvas is a good tool for the job, it is going to take more than a "few hours" unless the user is already experienced with wxPython If it does look promising, be sure to get the latest version from: http://www.mithis.com/~chrisb In addition to a few more features, it includes a bunch of small Demos that show you how to do a variety of things with it.
