Dear Dr Zimmerman, Does the 'basekV' column in the mpc.bus matrix play any role in the solution that matpower produces, or is it only for presentation ?So for example, 10 buses have 138kV and 5 others have 233kV as basekV. Secondly, as it is possible to set in the objective function the $/MVARh cost of generating Q, I would like to ask about the realism of such a thing. In reality, is there any such thing as cost of generating a MVAR ? As far as I know, the fuel cost is always in terms of $/MWh. MATPOWER does not include any functions to do this automatically, but it is trivial with a few lines of Matlab code using 'find' with a condition that compares the actual MVA flows to RATE_A and actual bus voltages with VMIN/VMAX. -- Ray ZimmermanSenior Research Associate419A Warren Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853phone: (607) 255-9645 On May 5, 2013, at 1:30 PM, Umer Ali Alsedeeq Ibrahim <[email protected]> wrote: Dear Dr Zimmerman, I am doing research related to power security. I am simulating a contingency by setting the branch status to 0. But I want to know the matpower can print out all the branches that have cross the limit and the buses voltage which are violated after running power flow Thank you From: Ray Zimmerman <[email protected]> To: MATPOWER discussion forum <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, May 1, 2013 5:32 PM Subject: Re: areas It has no effect whatsoever on the power flow results.
