In terms of the modeling, it sounds like you simply want to include 2 dispatchable injections that are linked to one another by a constraint so that Pg1 = -Pg2, correct?
As it turns out, that’s exactly the way a DC line is currently modeled in MATPOWER. Check out Section 7.6.3 in the User’s Manual<https://matpower.org/docs/MATPOWER-manual-7.0.pdf>. You may be able to use a DC transmission line to model your linked storage units. I want to add 2 storages, one at the top of the grid and the other one at the bottom, that are connected with each other to reduce the costs of redispatch. That means if storage_1 feeds 100 MW, storage_2 should operate as a load and charge for the same amount (100 MW) and vice versa. Is it possible to implement this dependence/ constraint in Matpower, and if so I would appreciate any advice. Thanks! R. K.
