Which OS are you using, and how did you install ffmpeg (through the
opencast 3rd party tools script)?

Compared to other tools, ffmpeg is pretty safe to upgrade if there is a
newer version available for your platform.  I don't know what we are
currently packaging with, but it's likely somewhat out of date and I'd
give a try using a more recent release of ffmpeg.
