http://aries.usask.ca/opencast/unofficial-vms/ hosts the VMs. Right now there aren't any 1.3 VMs built unfortunately. When you tried installing Matterhorn what did the error look like? Something along the lines of http://opencast.jira.com/browse/MH-8828 or http://opencast.jira.com/browse/MH-8814? The simple fix there is to just build with 1.3.x rather than 1.3.0.
