The third party scripts use "sudox", which is a kind of convenience function that Matjaz uses, but that internally uses sudo. So, yes, you can run the 3rd_party tools as a normal user and then inputting your password when required, but from my point of view this is problematic. It's better to check if the user running the scripts is the root user, so that the "sudo" is used from the outside. This ensures that the whole script will be run as the root user (and the programmer doesn't need to use "sudo" all the time they want admin permissions).
Again, this is a personal opinion, but in scripts with long operations such as this one, the password timeouts may cause some permission problems if one is not extra careful when writing them, because depending on the timings, there may be unforeseenable (does this word exist anyway? :P) effects.
