Hank, I agree that flvs are somewhat historical (or at least should be). But
prior to deprecating it from our default workflow, we'll need an HTML player
instead, and broad support on the browser front, which isn't available yet.
Speaking of standards, I am not sure what a "standard mp4 file" is. Are you
sure that it's ffmpeg's fault? It could as well be that there are
incompatibilites that result from the encoding software or hardware that have
been used to produce the file (not saying that it must be this way). If you
don't mind, I'll close this ticket for now as "resolved". Feel free to reopen
if you don't agree.
