Kevin Chan commented on MH-8505:
--------------------------------
Hi Adam,
Thanks for continuing to test and the additional info.
Firstly, I think the correct bitrate config setting includes "codec":
capture.device.BT878_video__ProVideo_PV143_.codec.bitrate=2000000
capture.device.Epiphan_VGA2USB.codec.bitrate=2000000
I am doing some tests with various bitrate settings, i.e.:
capture.device.BT878_video__ProVideo_PV143_.codec.bitrate=3000000
capture.device.Epiphan_VGA2USB.codec.bitrate=3000000
and while the camera capture does go up to 3000 Kbps, the VGA2USB capture
actually went down to 1164 Kbps (with 10 fps set). I am not sure if this is
expected (given the framerate setting), but am doing a bit more testing to be
thorough.
Secondly, CPU usage (2 cores) shows a max usage of around 50% for both cores.
Finally, we did finally get a 1.3.x capture agent up and running yesterday
(with confidence monitoring off). An initial test (of minimal screen movement
on VGA2USB, but a live stream of a TV station on the camera side) showed only a
.3 second file length difference. Also, since our initial 15 minute difference
issue, we have captured around 25 captures (using 1.2.0 capture agent; though
only about half are camera + screen) without seeing anything that has more than
1 second difference.
I am really unable to reproduce this issue and am not sure why our first
capture was so different. It is possible that I may have mangled some capture
settings before fixing them.
You did mention that you also saw dropped frame issues in IRC - was this issue
addressed in another ticket (aka fixed in trunk and/or 1.3)?
We will keep running test captures and will report back if we see this issue
again. For the moment, you can decide whether you want to close this issue out
or keep it open if we want to use this issue as a precursor to moving from
mpeg-2 to h264 format for capture encoding.
