That won't work. Older versions of Matterhorn expect older versions of
the tools. For example, ffmpeg has command line incompatibilities with
different versions of itself.

I would leave out 1.2.x and support 1.3.x.
For the 3rd party tools in older versions there's always the possibility to
take the 3rd party tools directory (.../docs/scripts/3rd_party) from a first
newer working version, compile them as usual on a blank virtual machine and
copy the whole /usr/local or /opt/local to the destination machine.
