Dear All

In response to discussions we had and feedback we got at the unconferences in
Oxford and Harvard, a communication group was established to improve access to
information in the wiki and on the websites. As a first step, we decided to
clean up the wikis, automatically archiving (and thus removing from immediate
access) pages that haven't been updated during the last 365 days. From our
initial analysis, these will be mainly pages from the funded period of the
Matterhorn project 2010-2011 that have no practical relevance today and clutter
up our wiki.

What this means is that August 17th we will ask everyone to stop editing the
wiki for a couple of hours (prior notice will be given) because this might
interfere with the automatic archival. Any page that hasn't been touched for a
year will be moved to an archive, still accessible for another 400 days - but
not appearing in the wiki and/or as a search result anymore. If there are pages
you edited, need or love where you think that they might be archived wrongly
under these settings, please inform Michelle Ziegmann (CC) in advance - or edit
them shortly to fool the archival process. If you find out something is missing
that should be there afterwards, please contact Michelle.

As indicated, this is only the first step in cleaning up the wikis. Once old
content was removed, we can move more easily and restructure the overall wiki
to meet the demand by developers and adopters accordingly. Expect us to come
back and inform you about respective changes beforehand.

Any feedback is welcome.

Regards

Opencast gardening team
