Thanks for the reply Aaron...I actually have admin privileges and checked
my permissions and have read/write....nonetheless I tried an alignment and
pointed the saved output to the desktop (test).....it looked like it went
farther but only an empty 'test' file ended up on the desktop:

Hi David, intermingled with the normal output are some error messages
indicating Mauve isn't able to write to the output location you've
specified:
"Unable to open output file "test6" for writing."
I would suggest that you try the same alignment again, but take care to
use the output file chooser (the button with ... in the GUI) to select a
location to which you have write access. The desktop or your documents
folder are some candidates.
