Greetings all,
I am cuurently a student at my local CC taking night classes towards
a degree in application software developement. In an effort to broaden my
OS experience (I am already familiar with windoze, dos and the Mac OS), I
have decided to give Unix a try.
My test machine will be a Power Mac 6100/66 with 1.1 Gig HD space (2
drives, 1 Gig and 100MB) , 72MB RAM, a 15-inch Apple multiscan monitor,
and an external SCSI 24x CD-ROM drive. The 6100 currently has OS 8.6
installed.
Can anyone offer any suggestions or advice on any of the following:
What flavor of Unix would best to start out with?
Any known issues with my choosen test machine?
Any general tips or advice?
Thanks,
Brett
