I have a 400 MHz G3 upgrade card in my 9600. 10.1.x was too slow to use, 10.2 is usable (but still not OS 9.x-like snappy-ness). I had 10.1.x on my 600 MHz G3 iMac at home, I didn't use it much. After I installed 10.2, I had been using it for a few minutes, then stopped. It was the first time I hadn't made a note of how slow OS X seemed. Remember, the faster memory bus in the beige G3's (compared to my 9600) will help. Make sure you have a fast disk, that makes a difference too, in my opinion (OS 9.x doesn't do as much logging, etc). -- Charles Dostale System Administrator Silver Oaks Communications http://www.silveroaks.com 824 17th Street Moline IL USA 61265 [EMAIL PROTECTED] 309-797-9898 -- MaX-list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> MaX-list info: <http://lowendmac.com/linux/max.shtml> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/max-list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
