        RAM is an important factor.  I have 1GB of RAM in my Pismo/400, 
and MacOS X 10.2 runs just fine.  And it's a pretty big improvement 
over MacOS X 10.1.5.

        You can turn some of it off.  You can turn off the Minimize 
"Genie" effect and animating the opening of applications (bounces), 
and dock magnification.  However, one thing that really soaks up the 
processor is the shadow effect, which you can turn off in other ways, 
but then it gets hard to tell which window is which.
