Hello:

I just installed MaxDB 7.6.0.34 X86-64 on kernel 2.6.16 (opensuse
10.1), Pentium D-945 3.4Ghz +1GB RAM DDR2-667, with a RAID-0 based on
2 SATA2 disks with 16MB buffer. Experimenting with a test database and
some commonly used queries. Largest table contains about 420.000 rows.

I gave about 460MB of cache to MAXDB.

Problem observed:

MaxDB consumes (according to command "top") 100% or more CPU time,
even for queries with a low cost plan. I can't see any disk activity,
and cache hits display 100%. Even when there is no client activity,
the MaxDB process (kernel) shows constant activity, up to 30% or more
in some cases. Is this normal??

I guess my queries are becoming CPU intensive, instead of IO
intensive. Is there anything I can tune in the database parameters? I
observed that with this version COROUTINES=YES, instead of load
balancing, is this a good default for this platform?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Regards,
Martin
