Yes I have my statistics up to date, I choose to turn off auto-update.
Are you using coroutines or load balancing? My cpu times when there is no activity sometimes reach 40%. I have not set processor affinity or anything like that, my CPU does not support hyperthreading either. I can understand that MaxDB is always working, what I don't understand is why it is taking so much CPU to process almost any query. And response times are not as good as I would expect with this new hardware. Whatever the case, I will unmount my raid-0 (software based) experiment and dedicate 1 disk for log and 1 disk for data for my next test. I still would like to know what config SAP/MySQL support team recommends for Intel Dual Core CPU regarding coroutines, load balancing and other parameters. I´m seeing this too, I think this is due to the Garbage Collector runs. We have a Solaris X86_64 box with 8 instances, even if only the databases are started (an no SAP application), the system has a permanent load of > 2 (and this is no system time). I would also be interested if this can be tuned/configured somehow. I can also seeing that the system is doing "UpdStat" on some UKTs then and when - is that done implicitly on 7.6? > I guess my queries are becoming CPU intensive, instead of IO > intensive. Update your statistics and see if that will help. Greetz, SIEGENIA-AUBI KG Informationswesen i.A.
