Hello Kristian,

Without understanding the finer differences between Ubuntu releases, I
would like to add, that if LD_ASSUME_KERNEL does not work anymore on
Ubuntu 6.10 you could try to upgrade from MaxDB 7.5.00 (requiring
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL on Linux versions with NPTL support) to MaxDB 7.6
(compiled with NPTL support).

Best regards,

Still trying to get this issue out of the way, I got a small step
closer, comparing our production system (Ubuntu 6.06) and my testbed
environment (Ubuntu 6.10), specifically their behaviour talking about
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL. Here is what I found out:

- box #1 (Ubuntu 6.06):

#> LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 x_server update

12916 XSERVER Found other running x_server with version 'X32/LINUX
7.5.0 Build 038-121-133-420'
12926 XSERVER Version after update 'X32/LINUX 7.5.0 Build
038-121-133-420'

- box #2 (Ubuntu 6.10):

#> LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 x_server status

x_server: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

It seems that this sort of ABI compatibility is not there anymore in
Ubuntu 6.10. Which is bad. Is there any way of getting around this very
issue?

Thanks in advance,
Kristian
