Hello Tilo; and at first, thanks a lot for your hint. Much appreciated, as I'm still sort of stuck with this issue...
Heinrich, Tilo schrieb: > Without understanding the finer differences between Ubuntu releases, I For what I see, the most immanent difference here between 6.06 and 6.10 is that the kernel has been changed from 2.6.15 to 2.6.17, and some folks on the ubuntu list pointed out that indeed the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.x doesn't probably work as expected anymore on 6.10. This is not that good especially given that the MaxDB packages in the 6.10 are uninstallable due to unmet dependencies (but that's another story). > would like to add, that if LD_ASSUME_KERNEL does not work anymore on > Ubuntu 6.10 you could try to upgrade from MaxDB 7.5.00 (requiring > LD_ASSUME_KERNEL on Linux versions with NPTL support) to MaxDB 7.6 > (compiled with NPTL support). I gave this a try, as well; but it doesn't really make things better. For what I see, creating the database works fine, same as running through most of my initialization script. After that, the db seems to be partially running, but trying to get them to admin or online state each and every time fails: [...] --- >db_admin ERR -24994,ERR_RTE: Runtime environment error 1,Check knldiag! Kernel died before reaching ADMIN state (OS error code 11000) --- [...] [...] >dbmcli -d WEBDB -u XX,XX db_online ERR -24994,ERR_RTE: Runtime environment error 1,Check knldiag! Kernel died before reaching ADMIN state (OS error code 11000) [...] Likewise, trying to shut them down doesn't end in an error but does actually leave db processes up and running(?): [...] 4297 ? Ssl 0:00 /opt/maxdb/7600/pgm/kernel WEBDB 4423 ? Ssl 0:00 /opt/maxdb/7600/pgm/kernel WEBDB 4432 ? Sl 0:06 \_ /opt/maxdb/7600/pgm/kernel WEBDB [...] I attached a gzip of the knldiag file in question, but so far, looking through it I can't come across any error to explain this situation. Do you have any more ideas what could be causing this strange behaviour? MaxDB version installed by now is 7.6.00.34 ...
