You are almost there - the solution is right in front of you!

[localhost] out: install a more recent version first, using

[localhost] out: 'easy_install -U distribute'.


Do the upgrade via easy_install or pip and try again!

The logs and error messages are your friend - they usually point to
what's wrong, you just need to find the right log and line!
