Great, that did it! To summarize for a future reader. To allow a group of users to view documents, folders, etc. one has to create a group, and a role. Give permissions for viewing to the role, then add the group to the role. Then add users to the group. In other words: 1. Create a group, say View 2. Create a role, say Viewer 3. Grant viewing permissions to the role Viewer as needed 4. Add the group View to the Viewing role 5. Add users to the group View
Now, all the users in the group View can view documents etc. after they log in. Somewhat convoluted at first, but it makes sense after a few moments of reflection. Thanks!
