many thanks. It didn't take me that long, but this class could be made more robust etc. I just knocked something up to do what I needed. I had about 5,000 MP3 files to dump into a database and this worked extremely well and handled all the flavors I could throw at it. I started to write the APE tag class as well but never completed.
