Difficult. Well, does it work if you set client and server to UTF-8 and you also call SQLGlobals.Setlocale(SQLGlobals.LocaleAll, "en_US.utf8")? For UTF-8 to work right on all levels, it must be set correctly. As far as I see informix client code in SQLAPI expects to get strings in current multi byte encoding.
